Role Overview

SynapseGen AI is at the forefront of the generative language intelligence revolution. We are looking for a creative, highly analytical, and technically expert LLM (Large Language Model) Engineer to join our remote-first machine learning team. In this role, you will be responsible for the fine-tuning, architecture, and deployment of sophisticated language models that power the next generation of conversational AI and automated reasoning applications. Whether you are an experienced researcher in the NLP space or a brilliant, math-focused fresher ready to apply your skills at scale, you will have the opportunity to make a tangible impact. You will work in a supportive, innovation-driven environment that prioritizes deep learning mastery and scalable engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fine-tune Large Language Models (LLMs) on domain-specific datasets using techniques like LoRA, QLoRA, and RLHF.
  • Design and develop retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines to improve model factual accuracy and relevance.
  • Optimize model inference performance, focusing on latency, throughput, and GPU utilization for production environments.
  • Implement semantic indexing solutions and vector database integrations (Pinecone, Milvus) for enterprise applications.
  • Monitor production LLM safety, bias, and alignment, implementing guardrails to prevent hallucinations and unsafe outputs.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to manage high-throughput training and inference on distributed compute clusters.
  • Contribute to the research and evaluation of new model architectures and open-source foundation models.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Linguistics, or related field.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python and modern deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow/Jax).
  • Strong grasp of Transformer architecture, attention mechanisms, and contemporary LLM paradigms.
  • Proven experience in building and deploying language models or text-processing applications into production.
  • Solid understanding of vector mathematics, probability, and optimization techniques.
  • Demonstrated capacity to thrive in a 100% remote working environment, maintaining high self-management and team collaboration.

Preferred Skills

  • Direct experience working with frameworks like Hugging Face, LangChain, or LlamaIndex.
  • Familiarity with distributed training methods (e.g., DeepSpeed, Megatron-LM).
  • Knowledge of cloud-based AI infrastructure (AWS SageMaker, Azure Cognitive Services).
  • Experience with automated testing and evaluation frameworks for generative models.
  • Prior experience or successful internships involving natural language processing research or scalable AI application development.

What We Offer

  • Highly competitive annual salary of $312,450.
  • 100% remote flexibility with a provided home-office equipment budget.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and disability insurance coverage for you and your dependents.
  • Significant annual budget for continuous professional learning, international AI conferences, and advanced technical certifications.
  • The opportunity to work on bleeding-edge language technology with a mission-driven, global team.
  • Generous paid time off, public holidays, and a supportive culture focused on long-term career stability and personal well-being.
