Role Overview
NovaCode Systems is looking for a passionate and fast-learning Junior Software Developer to join our growing remote engineering team. Key Responsibilities
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code for a variety of web and backend services.
- Assist senior developers in the design and implementation of new software features.
- Actively participate in peer code reviews, learning from feedback and providing input on code quality.
- Debug and resolve minor software issues, testing solutions to ensure they meet quality benchmarks.
- Maintain and update existing system documentation to keep technical knowledge current.
- Engage in daily stand-ups and sprint planning to stay aligned with team goals.
- Write unit tests to ensure the reliability and security of developed code components.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members to understand user requirements and technical constraints.
- Continuously learn new tools, frameworks, and programming best practices through internal training and workshops.
- Provide support for software deployment and basic infrastructure tasks under the supervision of senior team members.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong fundamental knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, C#).
- A solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and core object-oriented programming concepts.
- Familiarity with version control systems (specifically Git) and basic terminal commands.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a positive, collaborative team attitude.
- A hunger for learning and a proactive approach to solving technical hurdles.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment, maintaining focus and productivity.
- Freshers with strong academic technical backgrounds are encouraged to apply; we emphasize aptitude and potential.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection for consistent, professional virtual collaboration.
Preferred Skills
- Basic familiarity with web development frameworks (e.g., React, Node.js, Flask, Django).
- Experience with SQL databases or exposure to data modeling concepts.
- Experience with or knowledge of cloud-based development (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- An interest in Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and testing-driven development (TDD).
- Previous internship or academic capstone project experience involving software development.
