Role Overview

As our Payroll Specialist, you will oversee the full lifecycle of employee compensation. You will ensure that payroll is processed accurately, on time, and in strict accordance with labor laws. Your role is critical in maintaining the financial trust of our employees, resolving complex queries, and optimizing our compensation workflows. You will partner with HR and Finance leadership to drive process improvements and data integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full-Cycle Payroll: Manage the end-to-end payroll processing for the organization, ensuring accuracy and timeliness for all employees.
  • Statutory Compliance: Oversee and ensure compliance with PF, ESI, Gratuity, Professional Tax, and Income Tax (TDS) regulations in India.
  • Data Reconciliation: Conduct thorough reconciliation of payroll data against bank records and internal spreadsheets.
  • Query Resolution: Serve as the subject matter expert for complex employee payroll and benefit-related inquiries.
  • Financial Reporting: Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports, including tax liabilities and compensation summaries for audit purposes.
  • Tax Documentation: Coordinate the preparation and distribution of Form 16 and other year-end tax certificates.
  • System Maintenance: Ensure payroll software and HRIS systems are current with all employee data and legislative changes.
  • Audit Support: Assist internal and external auditors during annual financial and HR audits.
  • Compensation Modeling: Support the development and implementation of compensation structures, bonuses, and incentives.
  • Workflow Optimization: Identify and drive process improvements to streamline payroll operations and reduce manual errors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related fields.
  • Solid experience in end-to-end payroll processing and statutory compliance.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros).
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive, confidential information with the highest integrity.
  • Strong analytical mindset with sharp attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on experience with industry-standard Payroll software and HRIS platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of Indian labor laws, income tax acts, and audit requirements.
  • Ability to thrive and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for handling complex compensation scenarios.
